Seiwald and Austria with maximum points after two games | OneFootball

Ten RBL players are away on international duty during the first international break of the season.

The group includes Nicolas Seiwald (Austria), Ezechiel Banzuzi (DR Congo), Willi Orbán (Hungary), Neil El Aynaoui (Morocco), Antonio Nusa and Ørjan Nyland (both Norway), as well as Maarten Vandevoordt (Belgium). Tidiam Gomis is away with France U21s for the first time.

David Raum and Ridle Baku are also on international duty with Germany.

Nicolas Seiwald (Austria)

After starting their Nations League campaign with a 3-1 win against Israel, Nicolas Seiwald and Austria followed it up with another 3-1 victory against Kosovo. Austria now find themselves top of Group B3 with six points. 

Nici started next to former RBL teammate Xaver Schlager in defensive midfield and played the full 90 minutes. Schlager captained the side and helped set up Junior Adamu to make it 2-0 with a fine solo run (45'+2).

Antonio Nusa and Ørjan Nyland (Norway)

Both Antonio Nusa and Ørjan Nyland started once again as Norway came up against Portugal in Oslo. João Félix put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute, with Nusa going close to netting an equaliser shortly before the break after his shot took a deflection. 

Erling Haaland was able to draw Norway level in the 51st minute, but it was quickly cancelled out by Gonçalo Ramos (54'). Cristiano Ronaldo was an unused substitute. 

David Raum & Ridle Baku (Germany)

Raumi and Ridle are part of new Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp’s squad. There’s disappointment for Brajan, however: our attacker will miss the upcoming Nations League fixtures with an abdominal muscle strain and will not join up with the Germany squad.

Germany will use two different squads across the four fixtures. The two RBL stars will therefore link up with the national team on Sunday, 27th September, after watching the game against Greece in Augsburg from the stands. They will then begin training on Monday.

Two matches then await. Germany first host Serbia in Munich, before travelling to Thessaloniki to face Greece three days later.

Willi Orbán (Hungary)

Willi Orbán started alongside former Red Bull Dominik Szoboszlai for Marco Rossi’s side. There was little to separate the teams in terms of the quality of their chances, but it was Ukraine who took the lead through Danylo Sikan shortly before half time (42’). Hungary’s best effort of the first half came back off the crossbar.

Willi and his teammates pushed for an equaliser after the break, but struggled to create a clear-cut chance against a Ukraine side increasingly looking to hit them on the counter. Oleksandr Nazarenko was sent off for the visitors in stoppage time. Hungary will look to bounce back away to Northern Ireland on Monday (20:45 CEST).

Neil El Aynaoui (Morocco)

Neil El Aynaoui played the full 90 minutes as Morocco beat Gabon 2-0 at home. Noussair Mazraoui (36’) and Soufiane Rahimi (84’) bagged the goals for the North African side. Our midfielder almost got on the scoresheet himself in the first half, but the 25-year-old’s right-footed effort went narrowly wide.

The next challenge of the Atlas Lions' 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign is a trip to Bloemfontein to face Lesotho on Tuesday (15:00 CEST), before rounding off the international window with a friendly against Ghana in Tangier.

Maarten Vandevoordt (Belgium)

Maarten Vandevoordt was an unused substitute as Belgium recorded a 2-0 away win over Italy. The 24-year-old is therefore still waiting to make his senior international debut. His next opportunity could come at home to neighbours France on Monday evening (20:45 CEST).

Tidiam Gomis  (France U21)

Tidiam Gomis has received his first call-up to the France U21s. Together with the 'Bleuets,' he is now set for four tough matches as part of qualifying for the U21 EUROs in Albania and Serbia next year. France are currently top of their group with 17 points.

Gomis was not part of the matchday squad against Iceland U21s. 

Ezechiel Banzuzi (DR Congo)

After representing the Netherlands at youth level, Ezechiel Banzuzi has since declared for DR Congo. He has been called up to the senior squad for the first time by head coach Sébastien Desabre. DR Congo enjoyed a strong run at the World Cup, being eliminated after a narrow defeat to England in the round of 32 (2-1). 

'Banzu' was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win against Equatorial Guinea. He will be hoping to see some minutes on Monday, when DR Congo take on Zimbabwe in another AFCON qualifier (18:00 CEST).
