Finn Geragusian has signed his first professional contract with Sunderland, a major boost after the 18-year-old striker chose to stay on Wearside.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Armenia international has committed his future amid significant outside interest, with Rangers among the clubs monitoring his situation.
He scored 13 goals in the academy last season, often stepping up to the under-21s, before injury curtailed his 2025/26 campaign. In 2024/25 he registered 19 goal contributions, marking him out as one of the academy’s leading prospects.
Academy boss John Hewitson praised Geragusian’s rapid progress and work ethic, saying the club are delighted he will continue his development locally. The forward said he is proud, thanked staff at the Academy of Light and his family for their support, and hopes for more positive experiences this season.
Geragusian has trained regularly with the first team through 2026 and could have further chances in pre-season. In April, head coach Régis Le Bris described young international recognition as a positive sign after a long spell in the third tier, stressed the importance of player development, and cautioned it is still a little early for Geragusian to feature in the Premier League. He said pre-season is often the best time to integrate youngsters, competition is intense in his position, and the teenager must wait for opportunities while continuing to learn.
