Sunderland academy goalkeeper Isaac Allan is following concussion protocol after a head injury sustained while on loan at National League North side Hebburn Town. According to Sunderland Echo, he suffered the concussion during last weekend's FA Cup exit to Guiseley.

The Academy of Light prospect spent the closing months of last season with the Hornets as they won the Northern Premier League title and sealed promotion to non-league's second tier. He returned for the first half of this campaign and has impressed at the higher level.

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Daniel Cameron returned for another spell and started Saturday's draw at Darlington after Allan's concussion against Guiseley.

Manager Daniel Moore said the protocol means Allan could be out for two weeks or up to a month, depending on how he recovers. He felt bringing Cameron back was ideal because he knows the club and most of the squad, and he handled crosses well.

Cameron made three late saves to deny Dylan Stephenson, Jacob Hazel and Ben Hedley as the Quakers pressed for a winner at Blackwell Meadows. Moore praised his size and sharp reflexes in tight areas and said he had earned Hebburn a point despite limited recent football.
