According to WhoScored, Sunderland’s strongest starting XI this season is based on average match ratings. Regis Le Bris has most often used a 4-2-3-1, featuring in 19 of 36 Premier League games.
Sunderland have enjoyed an overwhelmingly positive campaign, returning to the top flight with standout wins over Chelsea, Bournemouth and Newcastle United. Promotion came via last season’s Championship play-off final against Sheffield United, and a productive summer window set the tone.
