MIAMI — The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues with Suriname hosting El Salvador in Group A on Thursday at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Suriname sits atop a crowded group with six points, but last place El Salvador only trails by three points and could drastically change the qualification scenarios for the final matchday with a victory.
Suriname is undefeated in the Final Round, playing to a pair of 1-1 draws in October with goals from Richonell Margaret and Virgil Misidjan. Stanley Menzo became the Suriname head coach with the longest unbeaten streak in World Cup Qualifying, with four wins and four draws in the last eight matches.
La Selecta will seek to break a three-game losing skid and move out of the bottom of the group. During that stretch they have only one goal, which was a Suriname own goal, and are coming off consecutive scoreless efforts in the October window.
The encounter is a rematch of the September 8 tilt that Suriname won 2-1 away. Radinio Balker and Dhoraso Klas sealed the victory for Suriname, offsetting the own goal off Anfernee Dijksteel that benefited El Salvador.
