Valencia are 10 days from pre-season with gaps across the squad and only around 15 seniors available, including the not-yet-official Justin de Haas and Aliou Dieng, according to Superdeporte.
CEO Ron Gourlay is waiting for Leeds to ease terms for Largie Ramazani, and a low-cost goalkeeper is needed after the 12 million option on Julen Agirrezabala was not taken.
Right-back is the most urgent issue. Dimitri Foulquier is out until late October and talks continue with Thomas Meunier. If nothing changes, Carlos Corberán will lack a fully competitive senior side when pre-season opens.
At centre-back only César Tárrega and de Haas look ready, with José Copete out until October or November and an Eray Cömert renewal fading. Mouctar Diakhaby is recovering from January hamstring surgery, and the plan is to move him on to save his second-highest wage.
Left-back is covered by José Gayà and Jesús Vázquez.
Midfield lacks balance pending Guido Rodríguez’s decision. Dieng would replace Baptiste Santamaría, while André Almeida could stay if he finds no exit.
With Diego López injured, Luis Rioja is the only winger. Work continues to formalise Ryunosuke Sato’s move from Tokyo, and Ramazani may not arrive until August.
Up front, Umar Sadiq and Hugo Duro will vie for the number nine unless a 10-12 million offer arrives for Duro. A mobile forward is still required, and Arnaut Danjuma remains on the market despite little appetite to leave.
There are 21 professionals, though only 17 could start the season, or 15 without Santamaría and Raba. With Stole Dimitrievski and Javi Guerra due extra rest, no new signing would leave Cristian Rivero as the only senior goalkeeper at the start of pre-season.
