Vasco have moved quickly in the market, turning to centre-back Gabriel Pereira of Copenhagen to bolster Pedro Emanuel's defence after Diego Carlos rejected a switch and chose Parma.
According to PaponaColina, the clubs held their first formal contact on Monday. Vasco prefer a loan with an option to buy, while Copenhagen initially want a permanent sale.
Despite an official proposal from Panathinaikos, the Brazilian is prioritising a return home to play at São Januário. He has a league match against Sønderjyske this afternoon, then plans to meet Copenhagen's board to request his release.
Vasco SAF are tracking developments in Europe with urgency and have identified alternatives if talks with the Danes stall in the coming days.
A Volta Redonda academy graduate, Gabriel Pereira impressed in Portugal with Vilafranquense and Gil Vicente before joining Copenhagen. He established himself in the Danish league and in continental competitions. At 25, he is noted for aerial presence and aggressive defending, qualities admired by the Vasco staff.
