‘We’ll See’ – Journalist Raises Question Over Rangers Swoop Amid Hijack Fears | OneFootball

Rangers are closing in on signing PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech, but a question has been raised over whether Celta Vigo will now up the ante.

The Gers suffered another blow on Sunday when they were beaten 2-1 at Ibrox by Hibernian, adding more early pressure on boss Derek McInnes.

McInnes has been backed by Rangers this summer and in the side named against Hibs he selected six players he has signed.

The former Aberdeen manager wants more fresh faces through the door, especially another winger, and Rangers have been working on a deal for Driouech.

They got close to PSV Eindhoven’s asking price of between €8m and €8.5m with their first offer and talks have continued.

Driouech was left out of PSV Eindhoven’s matchday squad at the weekend, though it was claimed that was not due to transfer reasons.

A move though has taken a big step forward as Rangers now have an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for Driouech.

The Gers are in the process of discussing personal terms, but that may not mean that the move is sure to happen, especially with Celta Vigo keen.

Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink wrote on X: “PSV is set to cash in on Driouech. The club is all but done with Scottish [side] Rangers FC over a multimillion-euro deal and the player now just needs to reach an agreement with Rangers himself. 

“Will Celta de Vigo let him go? We’ll see.”

It has been suggested that Driouech feels a move to La Liga would be more beneficial to him than switching to the Scottish Premiership.

Celta Vigo though may not be in a position to match the cash Rangers have put on the table for Driouech, giving the Gers an advantage.

Rangers recently brought in a winger in the shape of Daisuke Yokota and will hope that they can now bring in Driouech to follow him.
