West Brom are advancing plans for new forwards amid increasing expectation that Karlan Grant and Josh Maja will not sign fresh terms, with their contracts up on Tuesday.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Albion have moved recruitment forward on the assumption the pair will leave The Hawthorns after the club’s mid-May retained list noted an offer to Maja and ongoing talks with Grant.
James Morrison’s squad has already been bolstered by Falkirk striker Barney Stewart, 22, and Chelsea prospect Jimmy-Jay Morgan, 21, both for initial fees of about £1.3million. The club are relaxed about further additions and intent on refreshing options in the final third.
Former captain Jed Wallace and striker Daryl Dike have also departed at the end of their deals. Grant, a left-sided attacker in his sixth year at the club, and Maja, who joined in 2023, both have terms on the table but have yet to commit while exploring alternatives. Grant scored a consolation at Sheffield Wednesday in early May, which may prove his final Albion appearance.
If Grant and Maja exit, senior forward options would include Aune Heggebo, Isaac Price, Mikey Johnston, and newcomers Stewart and Morgan. Heggebo, Stewart and Morgan operate centrally, while Price and Johnston prefer wide roles, though several are versatile. Further reinforcements out wide are likely given Wallace’s departure and the expected loss of Grant.
