West Bromwich Albion are advancing attacking recruitment, planning for Karlan Grant and Josh Maja to depart after their contracts lapse on Tuesday.

ExpressAndStar.com reports that the Baggies have already bolstered James Morrison’s squad, with Falkirk’s Barney Stewart, 22, and Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan, 21, arriving for initial fees of around £1.3 million.

Albion confirmed their retained list in mid-May. Terms were offered to left-sided attacker Grant, who has spent six seasons at the club, and centre-forward Maja, who joined in 2023. Both have yet to commit and are exploring options, so recruitment is progressing to refresh the front line.

Former captain Jed Wallace and striker Daryl Dike left at the end of their contracts. Grant scored a late consolation at Sheffield Wednesday in early May, which could prove his final Albion appearance.

Should Grant and Maja go, senior forward choices would include Aune Heggebo, Isaac Price, Mikey Johnston and new arrivals Stewart and Morgan. Heggebo, Stewart and Morgan operate centrally, while Price and Johnston favour wide roles.

Further additions out wide are likely given Wallace’s exit and the potential departure of Grant.
