Albion are pushing ahead with attacking recruitment as they work on the basis that Karlan Grant and Josh Maja will depart when their contracts expire on Tuesday. The out-of-contract forwards have not committed to new terms.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club are progressing replacements on the expectation both will move on from The Hawthorns. The retained list in mid-May noted an offer to Maja and talks with Grant, and terms have been offered to both players.

New attackers are already in James Morrison’s squad after the arrivals of Barney Stewart, 22, from Falkirk and Jimmy-Jay Morgan, 21, from Chelsea. Both cost initial fees of around £1.3 million.

Former captain Jed Wallace has left at the end of his contract, as has striker Daryl Dike. Albion are relaxed about the situation and are working to refresh Morrison’s options in the final third.

Grant, 28, scored a late consolation at Sheffield Wednesday in early May, in what is likely to have been his final Albion outing. Maja, 27, is also likely to depart. Grant has spent six seasons at the club, Maja joined in 2023.

If the pair do go, senior forward options would include Aune Heggebo, Isaac Price, Mikey Johnston and newcomers Stewart and Morgan. Heggebo, Stewart and Morgan operate centrally, while Price and Johnston prefer wide roles, and further wide additions are likely after Wallace’s exit and Grant’s expected departure.
