Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus, but he was missing from their latest training session as Nick Woltemade trained with the team ahead of the match against AC Milan.

Juve would have loved to have both players available for the fixture, but it seems Sarr’s move has not been fully completed just yet. His absence from training is therefore connected to the remaining formalities rather than any problem with the transfer.

Sarr waits to complete formalities

According to Calciomercato, Sarr returned to London after signing his Juve contract, and the Senegal star still has some formalities to complete before the move is finalised and he is allowed to train with the group.

There are no issues with the main part of the deal, which has already been sorted. Sarr could therefore start training with his new teammates in a matter of hours, giving Juve hope that he will soon be available as they look towards their next matches.

The Bianconeri will be keen to have the midfielder integrated into the team as quickly as possible. Although his move has effectively been completed, the remaining formalities have prevented him from joining the rest of the players in training for now.

Juve will hope the situation is resolved quickly so Sarr can begin working with the group. His absence from the latest session is not expected to cause concern, with the main part of his move already completed.

Spalletti expects Sarr to prove himself

Luciano Spalletti asked for a new midfielder, but Sarr must prove that he is better than the current options available to him. He is not an established name like Franck Kessie, whom the manager had been eager to sign, so Sarr will have to earn his opportunities.

Juve believes Sarr can make an impact on their team, but the midfielder will still need to demonstrate that he deserves regular chances. His performances in training and matches will ultimately determine how much he features for the Bianconeri.

Fans have kept their fingers crossed to see whether Sarr can prove himself better than their current options. That will be important because it could determine how many opportunities he receives under Spalletti.

For now, the priority is completing the final formalities and getting Sarr onto the training pitch. Once that happens, he can begin his work with the group and show Juve why they believe he can make an impact.
