Will Burkina Faso play Argentina after flight cancellation? | OneFootball

Burkina Faso were stranded in Casablanca, Morocco, on Friday night, leaving their weekend friendly with Argentina in Buenos Aires in doubt.

The Burkinabè federation said in a statement that their chartered flight for Wednesday 30 September was cancelled without notice by the aircraft charterer, alternatives were explored, but travel-time constraints prompted player reservations, and no assurance could be given on arriving in time. The team had remained in Casablanca after Monday’s 1-0 win over the Central African Republic in 2027 AFCON qualifying.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 local time, 02:00 in Paris, overnight Saturday to Sunday.

For Argentina, this is due to be the second of three friendlies, after a 4-0 win over Bolivia on Wednesday in Cordoba.

They are then due to face Benin on Tuesday at the Monumental in Buenos Aires, an occasion for the Argentine public to bid farewell to Lionel Messi.
