Jimmy Quinn
ONE – SATURDAY 24 DECEMBER 1910 – In what was described as a “stirring” game at Cappielow, Celtic are a little unfortunate not to win against Morton on a treacherous surface. Jimmy Quinn scored from six yards in the first half, but Morton came back strongly in the second half, and Celtic had to be satisfied with a point. Already it looks likely that Celtic will not win their 7th consecutive League title this season.

Jimmy McGrory
TWO – SATURDAY 24 DECEMBER 1927 – A glorious, yet trademark Celtic goal by Jimmy McGrory from a Paddy Connolly cross earned Celtic a point in a tough game at Easter Road which ended 2-2. Earlier Alec Thomson had scored Celtic’s first goal.

John Divers scored
THREE – SATURDAY 24 DECEMBER 1960 – By no means the best game of football anyone has ever seen, but still a win for the young Celtic team as John Divers scores the only goal of the game against Motherwell before a crowd of about 20,000 at Parkhead. The goal came from an indirect free kick which Bertie Peacock tapped to John Divers.

FOUR – SATURDAY 24 DECEMBER 1966 – Celtic drop only their third point of the season as they draw 1-1 at Pittodrie in a game on a hard pitch which does not really live up to the expectations of the 31,000 crowd. Bobby Lennox scores for Celtic and Harry Melrose equalizes for Aberdeen, but it will be a sad Christmas for Joe McBride who injures his knee and will now be out of the game for some considerable time. Fortunately for Celtic, they have a ready-made replacement in newly-signed Willie Wallace.

FIVE – SATURDAY 24 DECEMBER 2011 – It will be a Merry Christmas for Celtic as Georgios Samaras scores twice to help Celtic defeat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Parkhead. Kilmarnock score late to make it 2-1 but Celtic hold out for the victory which reduces the gap to just one point as Rangers lose today to St Mirren. Rangers are the next visitors on Wednesday night.
