Chelsea will host Ajax at Stamford Bridge on matchday three of the Champions League, looking to extend their winning streak to four games in a row across all competitions.
The Blues are coming off the back of a thumping 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, thanks to second-half goals from Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto, and Reece James.
That win took Chelsea up to fifth place in the Premier League table, one point adrift of the top four and five behind London rivals and early pacesetters Arsenal.
For now, the Blues will be looking to build on their 1-0 win against Benfica in their last Champions League outing as they look to keep pace with the top eight.
Enzo Maresca will be forced to shuffle the pack once again as he looks to keep his squad fresh and minimise Chelsea’s already alarming injury woes.
But a few players from the win against Forest will likely retain their place in the starting XI.
Robert Sanchez should keep his place in goal ahead of Filip Jorgensen, although Maresca could make a few tweaks across the backline.
Reece James could be handed a breather, allowing Malo Gusto to start at right back.
Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana could anchor the defence after returning from injury, with Jorrel Hato poised to face his former employers at left back.
Moises Caicedo started the game against Forest on the bench, so he should be fit enough to start against Ajax and could be joined by Marc Cucurella if Enzo Fernandez doesn’t pass a late fitness test.
Pedro Neto could get the nod ahead of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho on the left flank. Estevao could start on the right, while Facundo Buonanotte lines up in the Cole Palmer role.
Joao Pedro will serve a one-match suspension after his sending off against Benfica.
That will pave the way for Marc Guiu, who impressed in his cameo against Forest, to take his place at the top end of the pitch ahead of academy graduate Tyrique George.
