Andoni Iraola has been thrown into the deep end at Liverpool.

The Spaniard has taken over the Anfield outfit after a rather lacklustre season which saw a lot of their fanbase fall out of love with their team.

Indeed, a lot of this was down to the poor tactical decisions that Arne Slot often made but, the Dutchman can't be the only one to blame.

Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were expected to be hugely transformative additions to the Reds' ranks but, in reality, they've made things much worse.

And, now that Hugo Ekitike is out until who knows when, Liverpool are seriously lacking firepower in their attacking department.

In addition to this, it doesn't feel like the Anfield outfit are finished with clearing out their attackers either as Harvey Elliott, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa are all still being linked with exits.

But, luckily for Iraola, the perfect solution to this issue has just emerged.

Liverpool should try and sign Lois Openda

Before joining Juventus, Lois Openda was one of the most sought-after attackers in the world.

The Belgian was one of RC Lens' best players and, there were even times when the 26-year-old was also one of RB Leipzig's most talented attackers.

However, after the 2023-24 season, things just didn't go to plan for the attacker which led to him being cast aside and sent to Turin.

While there, he was expected to add to Juventus' attack but, in reality, he only scored two goals in the 34 he played for the Old Lady.

But, with how much Iraola has managed to improve attackers such as Dominic Solanke at Bournemouth, it feels like Openda could be his next project.

There's clearly still a clinical goal-scorer within the Belgian as you don't score 20 + goals in two consecutive seasons by chance.

His best position is at striker but, there have been times when he's been used on both wings so, his versatility could also be massively helpful, especially while Ekitike is out injured.

Liverpool can't risk signing Lois Openda permanently

Although Openda could still be a goal-scorer, after his last couple of seasons, it feels like a massive risk for Liverpool to bring him in on a permanent basis.

The Belgian has failed to find his feet in the Serie A but, thanks to his blistering pace, he could end up being a menace in the Premier League.

One of the main things that the Reds were missing from their attack last term was speed.

Karim Adeyemi could've been a perfect purchase for them this term but, since Openda is on the market and other Premier League clubs have enquired about loaning him for the season, why can't Liverpool do the same?

Indeed, Isak will obviously be Iraola's first-choice but, while Ekitike is side-lined, the Belgian could definitely do a job, even if he is only a stop-gap solution.

An option to buy could obviously be worked into the deal if that helps make a deal easier but, at the moment, this feels like one of Liverpool's best options to explore.

Of course, Darwin Nunez
