Argentina’s major outlets have given the Recopa meeting between Flamengo and Lanús scant prominence on matchday, despite what is at stake for the Argentines. If they beat Flamengo, Lanús would claim what they consider the biggest title in their history, surpassing their Copa Sudamericana triumphs in 2013 and 2025.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Lanús’s profile and south Greater Buenos Aires base struggle to draw local media attention. Coverage has largely centred on who will take over at River Plate.

Olé leads with Marcelo Gallardo’s farewell at River, possible successors and details of Thursday’s game with Banfield. It also features Leandro Paredes’s return from injury at Boca Juniors. Flamengo v Lanús appears only as a brief item with likely line-ups, how to watch and kick-off time.

La Nación takes a similar line, highlighting Gallardo’s send-off and Argentinos Juniors’ home exit from the Libertadores on Wednesday 25. Its Recopa mention is folded into a multi-topic piece that groups Flamengo v Lanús with the Europa League and the Libertadores.

Even so, the final carries weight for both sides. For Flamengo, it is a chance to secure a second international trophy after the 2020 Recopa, and to calm recent turbulence.

The final kicks off at 21:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã. ESPN on pay TV and Disney Plus streaming will broadcast.
