AS Roma and Bologna meet on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League knockout stages, with the first leg of this all-Italian clash taking place at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Roma come into the match with mixed recent results. They were involved in a thrilling 3–3 draw against Juventus before suffering a 2–1 defeat away to Genoa in their most recent Serie A fixture. Before those games, the Giallorossi recorded a 3–0 win over Cremonese.
Roma travel to Bologna facing several injury problems, particularly in forward areas, which have reduced manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s options ahead of the tie.
Key attacking players Paulo Dybala, Matias Soule, Artem Dovbyk and Evan Ferguson are all unavailable due to injury and will miss the Europa League encounter.
Roma must also cope without central defender Gianluca Mancini, who is suspended, meaning changes are expected in the defensive line.
With multiple attackers sidelined, greater responsibility is likely to fall on Donyell Malen and Bryan Zaragoza to lead the attack.
Even with these absences, Roma still has experienced midfielders and defensive players capable of keeping the team competitive, although their limited squad depth remains a concern going into the match.
Possible AS Roma starting XI: Svilar; Ziolkowski, Ndicka, Ghilardi; Celik, Cristante, Kone, Wesley; Pisilli, Zaragoza; Malen
The match will kick off at 5:45pm BST on Thursday, 12th March.
The game will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on TNT Sports 3, while viewers can also watch Europa league encounter via live streaming on discovery+, TNT Sports’ official streaming platform.
