Aston Villa full-back Mayling joins Leicester City on loan | OneFootball

Aston Villa full-back Sarah Mayling has joined Leicester City on a loan deal which will run for the remainder of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via official club press releases from both clubs this morning.

The 28-year-old started out in Aston Villa’s centre of excellence before going on to make her senior debut for the club in 2014. In 2017, Mayling joined Birmingham City and she spent four years on the blue side of the Second City before returning home to Aston Villa in 2021. The defender has made well over 100 appearances for The Villans across her two spells with the club.

Mayling will now represent a third Midlands club with the player set to spend the remainder of the season with Leicester City.

After joining The Foxes, Mayling said “The manager has shown belief in me and given me confidence, so it was a no-brainer to come and play for this Football Club.

“The facilities and the environment that is being created here all builds into it. Belvoir Drive is somewhere you’d want to work every day and will motivate us to be the best we can be.”

Mayling is Leicester City’s second signing of the January transfer window.
