A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is confident in his chances of wrestling back starter status for himself this season.

That’s according to journalist Sique Rodríguez, who points towards Andreas Christensen as the player in question.

Stopper Christensen is for his part fresh off an altogether productive last week.

Having seemingly put his long-standing fitness woes behind him, the former Chelsea man was afforded his first start of the new season in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

This was followed by a further pair of starts for Denmark on the international front, with the 2nd, against Greece, having even seen Christensen find the net courtesy of a brilliant strike from distance.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then such impressive endeavours appear to have sparked some much-needed confidence in the 29-year-old.

As per a report from the aforementioned Sique Rodríguez, speaking during an appearance on SER’s Què T’hi Jugues program:

“Christensen believes he will end up being a regular starter partnering with Cubarsí. He knows that Flick likes him.”
