According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona will not receive the full €3.5 million transfer fee paid by Mallorca for Jan Virgili.
This is because the 2024 signing’s former club, Nastic, retained a small percentage of any future transfer when Virgili moved to Barcelona.
After struggling to break into Barcelona’s first team, Virgili moved to Mallorca in a deal worth €3.5 million for 50% of his rights.
As a result, Nastic are now due a share of the transfer fee that Barcelona receives from Mallorca.
The agreement means that either Barcelona will need to pay to acquire the remaining portion if Virgili leaves Mallorca in the future, or another transfer arrangement will determine the final distribution of his rights.
The structure of the deal ensures that Nastic continue to benefit from Virgili’s career moves.
Barcelona retain 50% of his rights, meaning that any future sale of the player could involve additional payments to either club, depending on how the transfer is structured.

This type of arrangement is common in football and reflects how smaller clubs secure financial benefits when a player they helped develop moves on.
On the pitch, Virgili has already started to justify his move. His first three appearances for Mallorca have been impressive, but one performance stood out.
Against Atletico Madrid, Virgili produced what can only be described as a ‘diabolical’ quarter of an hour that completely unsettled the opposition’s defence.
He caused major problems for Nahuel Molina with explosive bursts and clever changes of pace, leaving the Atlético defender struggling to keep up.
Virgili also delivered a perfect assist to Vedat Muriqi, helping Mallorca secure a vital point in the match.
His early form suggests that both Mallorca and the watching clubs could benefit from his growing influence on the pitch.
