Barcelona fans are eagerly waiting for the day their team finally steps back into the iconic Spotify Camp Nou.
However, vice-president Elena Fort has admitted that the club still cannot confirm if their next La Liga home game against Getafe will be played there.
The Blaugrana have already faced uncertainty over their venues in recent weeks.
After numerous discussions about whether the Valencia match could be held at Camp Nou, Barcelona eventually confirmed that the Estadi Johan Cruyff would host the game this weekend.
While this move gives the club extra time to complete work on Camp Nou, Fort has explained that deadlines, permissions and adjustments are still holding things back.
Speaking to RAC1 (h/t SPORT), she gave insight into the current stage of the project.
“We are working to return as soon as possible. For weeks now, the intensification of this final part, subphase A, has been intense.
“We are working day and night. I want to thank everyone at Espai Barça, both internal and external. It is clear that these licenses have very complex deadlines and regulations.
“We have to finish adjusting them, and we are in the final stages. That is where we will adjust the return.
“I can’t guarantee that we will be at the Camp Nou against Getafe (on September 21st),” Fort explained.
She continued that the club is working with the City Council to make things happen.
“The check that the city council must do is not starting from scratch. We are working side by side with the council and its technicians.

“I cannot guarantee you any return date. We will wait for events when we have absolute certainty.
“Let’s remember that we are talking about a first phase, first and second tier, which is not seen from the outside. Personally, all of us who were able to access shed a tear.”
Fort also cleared doubts about using the Estadi Johan Cruyff, confirming it fully meets La Liga’s requirements.
“There will be no problem with La Liga playing at the Johan, they asked us for some modifications and we have made them.
“The total capacity is 6,000. From this, we deduct rival fans, club commitments, dressing rooms, VIPs, and sponsors.
“And from this total capacity, what we don’t do is sell to the general public. Priority is given to Barça members, to those who went to Montjuïc for two years, and we wanted to reward them,” she adds.
Looking ahead, Fort expressed hope that fans will see European nights return to Camp Nou this season.
“We hope to be able to watch the Champions League this year at Spotify Camp Nou.
“We are working towards this,” said Fort, adding that “we are considering returning to Camp Nou.
“From there, it will be an internal decision by the club if we don’t make it. We must always have an alternative, and Montjuïc is a guarantee that we have a stadium.”
For now, Barcelona fans will have to be patient as the final stages of Camp Nou’s redevelopment continue.
