A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona could be afforded the chance to impress at senior level over the weeks ahead.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Víctor Barberá as the player in question.
The situation at centre-forward has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that Robert Lewandowski has been condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines.
With Ferran Torres already struggling for fitness, frontman Lewandowski is expected to miss several weeks with a muscular issue.
As much leaves Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad alarmingly short on options up top for the weeks ahead.
And as alluded to above, this situation could yet culminate in a new face emerging onto the first-team picture at the Ciutat Esportiva.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Without Robert Lewandowski, Hansi Flick could choose to give minutes to his replica at Barça Atlètic, Víctor Barberá.’
Striker Barberá is fresh off an impressive opening to the new campaign, and just this past weekend managed a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over Reus FC.
The 21-year-old, nicknamed ‘Barberowski’ owing to his Lewandowski-esque ability to finish chances in and around the penalty area, could therefore be a real option for Hansi Flick and his staff for the weeks ahead.
