Newcastle have signed Ivorian winger Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim for €50m. The club confirmed on Sunday that the 20-year-old has agreed a five-year deal running to 2031.

The move had been anticipated midweek and continues the Magpies' active summer.

The Ivory Coast international, capped nine times with two goals, featured at the World Cup. He impressed in Germany last season with five goals and nine assists in 32 appearances as Hoffenheim finished fifth, earning a Europa League spot.

The fee is a record sale for the Bundesliga club, eclipsing Joelinton’s 2019 switch to Newcastle for €43.5m.

Touré should help fill the gap left by Anthony Gordon’s €80m departure to Barcelona, with Lewis Hall an undisputed starter on the left of defence. Newcastle have also signed Ewen Jaouen from Reims for €28.5m.
