According to Football Espana, José Mourinho has told Eduardo Camavinga directly that minutes will be scarce at Real Madrid next season, yet the 23-year-old intends to stay and fight for his place. Madrid are exploring potential exits, but the midfielder is resisting a move.
The stance was formed before Mourinho arrived at Valdebebas, and he is said to have outlined the outlook bluntly in talks with Camavinga. That early firmness has set a combative tone to a pivotal pre-season for the former Rennes player.
Manchester City’s Rodri is expected to arrive, pushing Aurélien Tchouaméni to second choice at the base of midfield, which would leave Camavinga with even fewer minutes. A difficult 2025/26, spent largely as a substitute, preceded the new manager’s arrival.
Even so, Camavinga has reported for pre-season and wants to stay put. His stance complicates squad planning ahead of the new campaign.
Whether a club tests Madrid’s resolve with a concrete offer, and whether that would alter Camavinga’s stance, remains to be seen. His situation sits within a wider midfield rebuild at the club, and how the next few weeks develop will go a long way to shaping his future in the Spanish capital.
