Real Oviedo have confirmed the signing of Carlos Fernández from Real Sociedad, on a deal running until June 2028 and subject to a medical. The club said in a statement they had agreed a permanent transfer. Fernández is set to work under Julián Calero at El Requexón.
Fernández bolsters a forward unit that already features Chris Ramos and Isfan, with Joaquín Delgado and Víctor Mingo also pushing for minutes. Oviedo had been searching for a penalty-box presence in recent weeks and the Andalusian arrives to fill that role.
He heads to the Tartiere after a standout year at Mirandés, scoring 16 goals in 35 games at Anduva despite the club’s relegation. The injuries that had checked his progress appear to be behind him as he takes this opportunity to shine with Oviedo.
Born in Castilleja de Guzmán, Sevilla, on 22 May 1996, Fernández came through Sevilla’s academy and made his first-team debut while still a youth player. He later had loans at Deportivo de La Coruña and Granada, hitting 14 goals across league and cup and helping Granada qualify for the Europa League.
He joined Real Sociedad in January 2021 and spent six seasons with the Basque club, winning the Copa del Rey in 2021. He has also represented Cádiz and Mirandés, the latter bringing a prolific return last term.
