Celtic are eyeing a move for former Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis, according to Herald Scotland journalist Stephen McGowan.

Celtic completed a deal for former Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho last night, with Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers boosting his attacking ranks at the Parkhead club.

A move for Iheanacho was possible after he became a free agent when Sevilla terminated his contract on Monday.

His fellow Nigerian international, Dennis, is also a free agent after Forest terminated his deal, and he is an option for Celtic.

“Restricted to free agents and out-of-contract forwards, Celtic are also interested in Nigerian international Emmanuel Dennis,” McGowan wrote.

“The 27-year-old left Nottingham Forest by mutual consent at the end of the season after three years at the City Ground.”

Former Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has also been linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership reigning champions.

However, his wages could prove to be a stumbling block.

Celtic had until last night to register players for the Europa League league phase campaign.

While Iheanacho signed on time to get onto the list, subsequent arrivals at the club will not be playing in the competition until after the January transfer.

Dennis brings plenty of experience and quality to the table, having been involved in 20 goals in 52 Premier League appearances.

He has played in the Bundesliga, Jupiler Pro League, Premier Liga, Super Lig, Europa League and Champions League.

The Celtic target caught the eyes of several clubs after notching a brace to help Club Brugge draw 2-2 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the group stage of the 2019-20 Champions League.

The Hoops are unlikely to be the only ones interested in recruiting his services, and beating suitors to him will be great for Rodgers.
