Chelsea could hand Barcelona a financial boost with move for under-fire star | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has emerged as a transfer target on the part of English outfit Chelsea.

That’s according to Football Insider, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.

Stopper Araújo is for his part of course in the midst of something of a hit-and-miss opening to the campaign to date.

Carrying his inconsistencies from last season into 2025/26, the Uruguayan has been singled out for regular criticism for his defensive lapses and rash decision-making.

As much has culminated in a fresh round of calls on the part of the Barcelona faithful for Araújo to be sold.

And as alluded to above, such an option could become a realistic one following the turn of the year.

As per a report from Football Insider:

‘Chelsea are interested in signing Ronald Araujo and could land his services if Barcelona continue to struggle financially.’

The board at Stamford Bridge, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at the back, have earmarked the Blaugrana man as the ideal profile.

An offer for Araújo’s services is therefore being considered for the summer of 2026.
