Chelsea love to be the thorn in the backside of Liverpool. Yet it's always the Reds who have the last laugh. Daniel Sturridge, Mo Salah and now Rio Ngumoha are all testament to that.
Even though Chelsea sign Liverpool stars. Somehow Liverpool get Chelsea's fodder and are able to make them into stars much to their dismay.
Now though it seems like Chelsea have taken another tact in trying to imitate Liverpool. Instead of going for the players, they are going for key personnel.
Including a former director at Anfield in Dave Fallows.
According to The Athletic Chelsea are in talks to appoint Dave Fallows to a senior sporting leadership role. Fallows was employed by Liverpool for over 10 years and played a key role in the recruitment of Salah and many other players at the club.
His official role during his tenure was Head of Scouting.
He had previously worked at Manchester City before Liverpool decided to poach him. Last year he decided to leave the club and move onto pastures new.
The 65-year-old has been out of employment ever since. But it looks like Chelsea are now going to get a coup of their own from Liverpool and secure Fallows' signature.
Based on his track-record at Anfield, this seems like a great move for the Blues. Obviously, talks are still ongoing and nothing is complete yet.
But if they can get it over the line, it'll be interesting to see how he gets on.
