Chelsea have made the decision to scrap the pre-match huddle over the centre circle ahead of facing PSG tonight.

It was a new pre-match ritual that they had been doing, where they would gather over the ball in the centre circle ahead of both kick offs at the start, and then again at half time. It was something they decided to start doing but something that has been ridiculed and laughed at by basically everyone, even their own fans.

It became a real farce when they did it at the weekend against Newcastle and the Referee was still in centre circle with the ball ready for kick off. He stayed there in the huddle whilst Chelsea did their talk. It was madness.

Liam Rosenior described it as Chelsea wanting to ‘respect the ball’ in some bizarre comments defending their actions in what just made it all worse!

Anyway, it’s being scrapped, thankfully…

The Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill posted on X yesterday:

‘Chelsea are set to scrap their centre-circle huddle after deciding it’s grown into a distraction.’

And I think this will be music to the ears of everyone involved in football, and especially Chelsea fans right now! Common sense has prevailed.

In other news…

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry were on Monday Night Football, and they completely took apart Chelsea’s efforts to defend on Saturday.

Two Chelsea players had poor games against Newcastle, and it’s clear that one of them needs to be dropped.
