Board member for sport Markus Krösche, head coach Dino Toppmöller and Nathaniel Brown with the reaction to the 3-0 defeat against Bayern.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “Bayern are a class apart in this form, they have unbelievable quality with and without the ball. To hold your own against them, you need top form and for things to go your way in the game. We had neither of those. You can’t mistakes like the one we made before the opening goal against any opponents. We’re making wrong decisions at the moment, making one or two mistakes too many and aren’t resolute in our defending. That leads to simple goals being conceded. That’s happened throughout this week, including at Mönchengladbach. We have to work on that.”
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We had high hopes and the fans were fired up – all of that was thrown into disarray by a fairly simple error. That was a real blow. When you make mistakes like that against Bayern, they’re going to get punished. Sadly it’s a deserved win for Bayern. We’re not currently at the level of Atlético and Bayern.”
Nathaniel Brown: “It’s very frustrating, we had high hopes – then we concede the first goal after a few seconds. That’s football, I can’t explain it. But we quickly picked ourselves up again and scored the equaliser, which unfortunately then didn’t count. The second goal showed Bayern’s quality. I can’t fault the team, we fought and ran, but at the end of the day it’s Bayern. We all want to defend but we’re conceding too many goals at the moment. We need to change that quickly. Every individual is responsible, including me.”
