Corinthians climb five places with 3-1 win, finish round clear of drop zone

Corinthians came from behind to beat Grêmio 3-1 in Porto Alegre, climbing five places and opening a four-point cushion to the relegation zone as matchday 18 ended on Sunday.
According to Meu Timao, the result leaves the club 10th on 24 points, which would currently secure a 2027 Copa Sudamericana berth.
Above them, Atlético-MG are also on 24 but ahead on wins. São Paulo have 25, while Coritiba and Bahia are on 26 in seventh and sixth respectively.
The Libertadores 2027 spots start with Red Bull Bragantino on 29. Athletico-PR sit fourth with 30, followed by Fluminense on 31 and Flamengo on 34. Palmeiras lead on 41 from 18 matches.
Below Corinthians, Cruzeiro are 11th with 23. Botafogo and Vitória have 22, with Internacional and Santos on 21 in 14th and 15th. Grêmio are the last side above the drop, also on 21 and behind on tiebreakers.
The bottom four comprise Vasco da Gama on 20, Mirassol and Remo on 16, and Chapecoense last with nine.
The league now pauses for the World Cup. Corinthians play a friendly against FC Cascavel on 12 July at Estádio Olímpico Regional in Paraná. Their first official game after the tournament has a provisional base date of 22 July, at home to Remo in round 19 at Neo Química Arena.
