FC Barcelona are once again exploring options to reinforce the right-back position, an area that Hansi Flick considers crucial for balancing the team’s defensive solidity with greater attacking threat.
At present, Jules Kounde remains the preferred starter in this role, while Eric Garcia has proven to be a dependable backup.
However, the Catalan club is reportedly looking to add another specialist full-back who can provide more offensive depth. According to Fichajes, one of the candidates on Barcelona’s radar is Daniel Munoz, the Colombian international currently playing for Crystal Palace.
Since joining the Premier League side from Genk in the winter window of 2024, Munoz has quickly established himself as one of Crystal Palace’s most reliable players.
His consistency, combined with his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, has made him a key component of the English club’s system.
During the 2024–25 season, Munoz featured in nearly every league match (37 appearances as a starter), earning praise for his determination, stamina, and attacking output.
This campaign, he has maintained that level, continuing to deliver solid defensive displays while also adding goals and assists that highlight his all-around qualities.

Barcelona’s persistent interest in Munoz stems from his versatility and attacking potential. Flick’s tactical setup relies heavily on dynamic full-backs who can support the attack while maintaining defensive discipline. Munoz fits that profile perfectly, offering both energy and tactical awareness down the right side.
His experience as a wing-back allows him to adapt to different systems, and his crossing ability and quick recovery after transitions make him an ideal candidate to complement or rotate with Jules Kounde. These qualities could be especially valuable in a long season with intense domestic and European fixtures.
Signing Daniel Munoz would not be straightforward. Crystal Palace values the player highly and is not expected to sanction a sale easily. The report from Fichajes suggests that a fee in the region of €25 million would be required to initiate talks, a figure that may pose a challenge for Barcelona’s current financial situation.
Moreover, Atletico Madrid and several other European clubs are also monitoring Munoz’s situation closely. Their interest could increase competition for his signature, potentially driving up the price and complicating negotiations.
A January transfer appears unlikely, as Crystal Palace views Munoz as an essential figure in their ongoing campaign. A potential move could be revisited in the summer of 2026, when contract circumstances and market dynamics might make the deal more feasible.
By that time, Munoz will be approaching 30, an age that could slightly lower his market valuation if his contract remains unrenewed. However, his experience and established status in the Premier League would still make him an attractive target for Barcelona, who continue to seek depth and flexibility in defense.
