Cuca cautious on Neymar for Santos, calls situation complicated | OneFootball

Cuca is taking a cautious line over whether Neymar will feature for Santos against Deportivo Cuenca in the Copa Sudamericana on Tuesday, a day before he is due to report to Brazil's World Cup squad. According to Globo.com, he said the situation around the No 10 is complicated and any decision will depend on medical clearance.

He added that if Neymar is clinically fine, and if they choose to use him, the forward would be available on Tuesday. He also said he does not know about a return date and that they must consult the medical department.

Rodrigo Zogaib, the club’s medical coordinator, has confirmed a small issue in the right calf, a 2mm oedema graded at level 2, which is not considered concerning. The staff are working with the possibility that he could face the Ecuadorian side.

Even so, his inclusion is still viewed as unlikely. Santos intend to deliver the forward fit to work normally with Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil group for the World Cup.

Neymar missed the draw against San Lorenzo, watching from a box at Vila Belmiro, and has been undergoing treatment since Sunday.
