Decisive figure converts late penalty to lift Sparta Rotterdam

Tobias Lauritsen settled the game in the 80th minute, converting from the spot to give Sparta Rotterdam a 1-0 win over Volendam.

The Norway forward kept his nerve from twelve yards, striking low into the bottom right corner after Shunsuke Mito was fouled in the box. It capped an afternoon in which Lauritsen had already carried a threat as the focal point for Sparta Rotterdam's attacks.

After the restart he continued to influence the contest, teeing up Ayoub Oufkir for a shot on target (83.). His hold-up play drew defenders in and opened lanes for runners to attack second balls and crosses.

Lauritsen finished with four attempts, two on target, created four chances and won 10 aerial duels. Those numbers underlined how his presence pinned defenders and allowed Sparta Rotterdam to control key territory in both boxes.
