Lauritsen converts late penalty as Sparta Rotterdam edge Volendam

Tobias Lauritsen converted from the spot in the 80th minute to give Sparta Rotterdam a 1-0 win at Volendam, keeping the visitors 10th while the hosts remain in the relegation play-offs.

Sparta Rotterdam forced the issue either side of the break, with Kayne van Oevelen denying Mitchell van Bergen and Bruno Martins Indi, before Joey Drommel clawed out a Xavier Mbuyamba header to keep Volendam in it.

A foul on Shunsuke Mito in the box was penalised, and Lauritsen calmly tucked away the penalty (80.).

Sparta Rotterdam registered 23 attempts and controlled 60.6% possession. Volendam managed 12 attempts and 39.4% of the ball. Van Oevelen made nine saves to keep the scoreline narrow.
