Thomas Meunier set the tone in the 15th minute with a defence-splitting pass, and his all-round display steered LOSC to a 1-0 win at Monaco.
From right-back, Meunier slipped Ayyoub Bouaddi in to draw a low save (15.). He kept driving the visitors up the right, repeatedly pinning back the hosts.
After the restart he tested Lukas Hradecky from range (59.). Late on, his rising effort was blocked in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.
Meunier finished with nine recoveries, 36 of 42 passes completed and one key pass, plus two successful dribbles, underlining his control of the flank.
Because he consistently attacked the outside channel, Les Rouge et Blanc's left side was forced deep, and LOSC controlled key phases without needing a high volume of attempts.
LOSC sit third in Ligue 1 and host Auxerre next. Les Rouge et Blanc visit Strasbourg.
