Eddie Howe has been talking about the Nick Woltemade, Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa, following Wednesday’s Union Saint-Gilloise 0 Newcastle 4 in the Champions League.
The Newcastle United Head Coach very pleased after this thumping away win.
As for where Nick Woltemade is at with regard to his form these last few weeks in a Newcastle shirt, Eddie Howe very pleased with the ‘exciting’ start to the striker’s career.
However, the United boss also believes there is far more to come for the Germany international, especially once Eddie Howe gets Woltemade fully up to speed with his training and match expectations.
Eddie Howe also asked about when we can expect Tino Livarmento and Yoane Wissa to return to action.
Eddie Howe reflecting on Union Saint-Gilloise 0 Newcastle 4:
“There are things we can improve on but it was a big step in the right direction.
“An important stage as well in the Champions League because we have to start well.
“These competitions the demands are so high, so if we are slow starters we could leave ourselves too much to do.
“So I certainly leave here in a lot healthier, positive frame of mind.
“I’m looking forward to the next game.”
Eddie Howe asked if this kind of performance will make the Newcastle United players believe they deserve to be in the Champions League:
“They should believe.
“There is no reason why we can’t win games at this level, home and away.
“We have got the players and the squad to do that.
“Maybe you have to do it to believe it yourself but I’m already there. I know that we can.”
Eddie Howe asked about when we can expect to see Yoane Wissa available for selection:
“I think we are still on track for where we were, which is after this upcoming international break coming up.
“He hasn’t trained on the grass yet, so we haven’t seen him as part of any team training.
“But at the moment that’s still the schedule.
“We will wait and see.”
Eddie Howe asked about when we can expect to see Tino Livramento available for selection once again:
“From yesterday’s meeting with a specialist, we think Tino will be roughly around six to eight weeks.
“Which is probably positive from where we were after the [Arsenal]game, thinking he might be months.
“We ere probably looking not at this international break, but maybe the next one, he could be back.
“It’s slightly more positive than we were initially fearing.”
Eddie Howe on Nick Woltemade:
“His potential is high.
“It is an exciting start for him and he has done really really well.
“More importantly, he is willing.
“He wants to do the work and wants to improve.
“It is difficult to put a percentage on where he is right now but there is more to come physically and tactically, as we go through the journey together with him.
“We will be doing a lot of physical work with him to get him robust enough for the Premier League, week in, week out.”
