Main construction on Leeds United's Elland Road expansion began last week. The ticket office, away changing rooms, security hub and banqueting suite have been removed. Floodlights above the West Stand have also been taken down.

Smaller temporary lights now sit on the John Charles Stand. According to Leeds Live, they will be removed once the stand is extended, when capacity there is set to rise from 8,000 to 17,750.

The rebuilt West Stand is forecast to be finished by late 2028 and will extend deep into the car park. The club has pledged improved seating, sightlines and fan amenities.

The main build began hours after the final whistle of the last home match against Brighton on 17 May. The security hub has been demolished and will be relocated outside the North East corner, and the mural of Don Revie and his FA Cup heroes will be removed and repainted nearby.

Full permission has been granted for the West Stand extension, while phase two, the North Stand, currently has outline consent ahead of a future vote. The overall project is expected to conclude around 2030.

Work is set to concentrate in summers and international breaks, with chairman Paraag Marathe keen not to compromise seating. He said there will be disruptions for West Stand supporters and hospitality, which will move outside the North Stand. He asked fans to bear with the club as it tries to keep as many supporters in their seats.
