FA figures show Wolves' agents' fees almost doubled to £25.9m, while Aston Villa paid more than £38.4m, the Premier League's second highest. The reporting period runs from 4 February 2025 to 2 February this year. Villa's total was up by more than £13m on the previous 12 months.

Chelsea led the list for the second year running with £65.1m, as top-flight spending on intermediaries reached £460m.

Wolves' outlay ranked seventh, up from eighth lowest a year earlier, having risen from £13.5m. The span covered a summer when they signed six players, none with previous Premier League experience.

Wolves sit bottom of the table with seven matches to play, having won only three times in the league this season.

Villa's summer recruitment was constrained by Uefa's financial fair play rules, with forward Evann Guessand arriving from Nice for nearly £30m as the only major buy. They then signed striker Tammy Abraham for £18.2m, while Tyrone Mings, John McGinn and Morgan Rogers agreed new contracts during the period.

In the Championship, Albion's agents' fees fell to £1.3m from £2.5m, making them the sixth-lowest spenders, while Ipswich led on £11.7m. Walsall's spend dropped by around £40,000 to £104,000, and Shrewsbury Town's rose by about £15,000 to £91,500.
