Flamengo have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Andrew on a four-year contract after his departure from Gil Vicente in Portugal, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 24-year-old arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday and underwent medical tests on Wednesday.
He then signed his deal and toured the Ninho do Urubu training complex.
Andrew comes in to cover the exit of reserve goalkeeper Matheus Cunha, who has joined Cruzeiro. The board had been seeking competition for Rossi since being notified six months ago of Cunha’s pre-contract with the Minas Gerais club.
Talks with Flamengo were relatively swift, but his return to Brazilian football was drawn out. A Botafogo academy product, Andrew had advanced negotiations with Botafogo before opting for their rivals.
