Callum O'Hare made the switch from Coventry City to Sheffield United in the 2024 summer window

In what was a bit of a controversial move at the time, Callum O’Hare made the switch from Coventry City to Sheffield United in the 2024 summer transfer window on a free transfer, swapping one Championship club for another.

The Sky Blues had failed to earn promotion to the Premier League in 2023 with a crushing play-off final defeat to Luton Town, and a disappointing ninth-place finish led to Mark Robins’ side missing out on another chance at top flight football.

This led to O’Hare departing the CBS Arena as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract, as he wanted to explore his options in the wider market, with a potential Premier League or European move in the offing.

However, to the surprise of many, O'Hare joined another ex-Cov player in Gus Hamer at Bramall Lane, following United's relegation from the Premier League, penning a four-year deal in South Yorkshire.

O'Hare's first season almost brought him the promotion success that he was craving, but another play-off final defeat, this time to Sunderland, meant he would continue to ply his trade in the Championship.

Here, we use estimated figures from Capology to take a look at how O’Hare’s wages have changed from his move from the Sky Blues to Sheffield United

O’Hare signed for Chris Wilder’s side in 2024, agreeing a four-year deal that will keep him at the Yorkshire outfit until the summer of 2028.

As part of that four-year deal, the midfielder agreed terms that saw him receive a pay package worth £15,000 per week, according to Capology's estimates.

Meanwhile, Japhet Tanganga is the squad’s top earner, with the defender receiving £35,000 per week after his switch from Millwall in the most recent summer transfer window, which shows that if correct, O'Hare is perhaps on a measly sum.

The 27-year-old creative midfielder was a key figure in the team during his first season at Bramall Lane, featuring 44 times in the regular Championship campaign.

He contributed two goals and six assists, with the team missing out on automatic promotion with a third-place finish.

O’Hare came off the bench in all three of their play-off fixtures, including scoring in both legs of their 6-0 aggregate victory over Bristol City. However, a 2-1 comeback win from Sunderland consigned the Blades to another year in the Championship.

Promotion was the aim going into 2025-26 under new head coach Ruben Selles, but his early sacking and the return of Chris Wilder for a third managerial stint saw a change of tact, and there's set to be a big January transfer window on the horizon to try and push United up the table.

Prior to his move to Sheffield United, O’Hare was a key figure for the Sky Blues after his 2020 switch from Aston Villa.

Injury issues did plague the playmaker, who only made 11 appearances during the 2022/23 campaign in which the club earned a place in the play-off final, having suffered a serious knee injury at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day.

However, he contributed six goals and three assists from 31 games in the Championship in his final year for the team, proving his worth as a key part of Robins’ side.

Given his importance to the side, O’Hare was on a deal worth £10,000 per week, making him one of the top earners at Coventry prior to his exit.

The top earner during the player’s final season with the club was Luis Binks, with the defender estimated to be receiving £30,000 per week.

It's fair to say with the likes of Victor Torp and Jack Rudoni in midfield, Coventry haven't really missed O'Hare, even though they lost out in the play-off semi-finals last season, but there's no denying he brought creativity and drive to the heart of their midfield during his time at the CBS Arena.
