Marco Silva has confirmed Kevin is in contention for Fulham's game against Aston Villa after injuring his shoulder against Cambridge United.

The Brazilian went down late in the game under a heavy challenge and received treatment on the pitch. He tried to play on before being substituted and Silva admitted at full-time that the winger felt pain in his shoulder.

The 22-year-old will be assessed again ahead of Sunday's trip to Villa Park but the signs are positive, with the club’s record signing having trained on Friday.

"So far, all the players are okay,” Silva confirmed. “We will keep assessing. Kevin trained today, there's a chance he's in contention, but we have another session tomorrow."

Kevin made a positive impression on his full debut as they snuck through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, though Silva stressed it will take time for him to adapt to life in England. He was at times guilty of doing too much with the ball, and it was clear that his combinations with team-mates needed time to develop.

There were some nice interchanges with left-back Antonee Robinson, who provided an option on the overlap, while Kevin looked to cut inside, and the pair have already begun to strike up a good understanding.

Fulham have enjoyed a strong start to the season, taking eight points from their opening five games.

They take on a desperately out-of-form and goal-shy Aston Villa side still searching for their first league win of the season, but Silva is not underestimating the threat posed by Unai Emery's side.

"To go and fight for three wins in a row is massive for us,” he said. “It's been a tough place for us to go. We know the quality they have. They haven't started the way they wanted.

“We have to play with confidence. To keep doing our maximum, to get the three points to make it three wins in a row."
