Gérald Passi, a former France international, spent two seasons at ASSE from 1992 to 1994, then turned to design before moving into scouting. Since last year he has been Troyes’s head of recruitment.
According to Le Progres, his bond with Saint-Étienne endured beyond the pitch, as he had nurtured a passion for design long before experiencing the city that has become France’s design capital.

He said the interest dated back to when he was 22 or 23, and during his playing days he intended to enter design once his career ended.
After retiring, he quickly began studies in Paris to support that transition.
He later said he saw a certain analogy with design, underlining a rare and well planned switch for a footballer.
