Gonçalo Moreira, one of Seixal’s outstanding prospects, came off the bench to score as Benfica B beat Feirense 3-0 yesterday, their most emphatic win of the season.
The attacking midfielder turned 20 on 3 January and has been a standout across the B team, under-23s and the UEFA Youth League. According to Glorioso 1904, his form is drawing José Mourinho’s attention.
Introduced by Nélson Veríssimo with just under half an hour left, the number 77 made his minutes count and found the net.
Moreira is a cerebral midfielder who appears a step ahead, knowing his next pass before the ball arrives. He links play by driving into the final third or releasing team-mates in wide and inside areas.
This season he has 31 official appearances, 20 in the Segunda Liga, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in the Premier League International Cup and one in the Liga Revelação. Across 1,950 minutes he has 17 goals and 10 assists, and is valued at 1.2 million euros.
