The Hamburger Abendblatt reports that Argentine midfielder/wingback Nicolas Capaldo has made it onto the Hamburg’s summer wish list. The newly-promoted Bundesliga side may have well located their ideal replacement for the departed Ludovit Reis in the RB Salzburg man. Capaldo happens to be a midfielder of a similar mold to Reis.
The former Boca Junior academy man just wrapped up another successful year in the Austrian top flight in which he scored four goals in 23 league appearances for the Austrian Red Bulls. Although the 26-year-old’s current estimated market value (€5m) is down from a peak of €8m in late 2023, he remains a reliable midfield presence for his team.
Capaldo’s Austrian club will be keen to cash in on him as he enters the final year of his contract. Other clubs outside of Europe’s top five leagues have been linked with him. A move north to the German Bundesliga may nevertheless be very appealing for Capaldo at this stage of his career.
