Hansi Flick discusses Barcelona’s midfield transfer plans | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken out on the possibility of the club adding to his ranks in the middle of the park before the summer is out.

This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana are now taking into real consideration the signing of a new midfielder.

Considered as well down the list of priorities in the Camp Nou boardroom earlier this summer, Deco and co. have been left with no choice but to begin scouring the market for engine room opportunities over the last couple of weeks.

After Frenkie de Jong returned from international duty at the World Cup with a knee problem, the Dutchman was ruled out for the early months of the 2026/27 campaign.

Recent days, in turn, have seen Barca linked with a whole host of midfielders, from Girona’s Azzedine Ounahi to Manchester City standout Rodri.

Speaking during an exchange with the media on Monday, the aforementioned Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on the prospect of a new midfielder arriving in Catalunya’s capital.

And the German tactician went on to explain:

“We’re always open to strengthening the squad. The truth is we already have players in that position, but we’ll see how things develop over the coming weeks.”
