The left-back signed for the Reds back in 2017 from Hull City - in what will go down as one of the greatest transfers in club history at only £8m.

Since then Robbo has won everything in the club game - including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and many other honours.

He is closing in on 400 appearances for the biggest club in the world but there is reason to believe his time at Anfield could be edging towards a conclusion.

Robertson unlikely to take Celtic option

Robertson fell slightly out of favour last season under Arne Slot - with the new Liverpool head coach preferring Kostas Tsimikas in the cups and even in the Premier League too.

He blotted his copybook with uncertain moments - including red cards, penalty concessions and own goals. It was decided by sporting director Richard Hughes that a new left-back would be required - and Milos Kerkez arrived for £40m over summer.

The former Bournemouth defender has pushed the Scotland international down the pecking order - although he remains very much in the fight for a first-team place.

That said, Robertson’s current contract only extends to the end of the current season and is believed to be worth £160k per week.

Celtic 'would love' to sign Robertson

We’ve seen links with Atletico Madrid come and go - with Robertson preferring to stay and fight it out at Anfield last summer. And now another potential destination has emerged in the shape of Celtic.

Robertson was a Celtic fan as a boy and could do with some first-team football on a regular basis.

It’s unlikely that Robertson will leave Liverpool for the Glasgow giants however - with a report in Football Insider concluding that a move to the SPFL is not on the agenda for the player right now.

“I’d be very surprised if anything was to materialise from this one,” a report reads.

“Obviously, Andy Robertson is a boyhood Celtic fan, came through the ranks there before being released and then ended up going to Dundee United and the rest is history, where he’s really kicked on from there as Scotland captain.

“Celtic I’m sure would love the opportunity to sign somebody like Andy Robertson, but I don’t think it’s in the plans right now for Andy Robertson maybe to be moving back up to Scotland.”

We may see Robertson move on in 2026 - especially in light of his expiring contract - but perhaps he’s got a more competitive team or league in his sights.
