Pep Guardiola’s home and personal life has seen improvements and is now stable following significant developments last year, it has been detailed.
While much of the attention surrounding Guardiola tends to centre on his work at City, life away from the pitch has not always been straightforward for the Catalan coach of late with the 54-year-old having endured a period of personal and professional strain.
Guardiola’s separation from his long-term partner Cristina Serra last year coincided with one of his most testing periods at Manchester City as the team’s form dipped notably during the winter months of 2024.
Since then, Pep Guardiola has seemingly worked towards rebuilding calm and balance, with the Catalan publicly appearing more relaxed and emotionally refreshed.
Now, according to a new report from The Times’ Paul Hirst, Guardiola’s home life is stable following difficulties last year, with the Manchester City manager said to be on good terms with Cristina Serra following their split.
While Guardiola’s two oldest children have ‘flown the nest’, his youngest daughter is with Serra in Barcelona, but sees her father often, who has a good relationship with all of his children while also learning to cook.
The report does however point out that there is a recognition that last year and the problems at Manchester City on the pitch ‘took a lot out’ of the 54-year-old in both a professional and personal sense.
With Pep Guardiola’s home life calm, the question for Manchester City turns to how this stability may influence his long-term future. Recent reports have suggested that insiders view the end of the current season as a potential juncture for reflection.
However, similar predictions have been made before, only for the Manchester City boss to extend his stay, reaffirming his attachment to both the club and the project, and Guardiola’s deep bond with players and staff may yet keep him in Manchester beyond 2026.
Whatever the next chapter holds, Pep Guardiola appears to have found balance once again both at home and in his footballing world as he looks to guide Manchester City back to the summit of English football.
