Simone Inzaghi admits that there were “physical and mental fatigue” in Inter Milan’s Coppa Italia loss to AC Milan yesterday.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to SportTV Portugal, via FCInterNews, after the 0-3 defeat. He nevertheless insisted that Inter “still have great confidence.”
Inter Milan looked to be struggling quite evidently in the second half of yesterday’s derby clash with AC Milan.
In the first half, Inter were if anything the better side. They controlled the midfield, and created a number of chances and dangerous situations.
However, once Milan scored, it just seemed to take the wind out of Inter.
The Nerazzurri looked to be completely out of gas as they struggled to chase the game after halftime.
Moreover, this wasn’t the first time. Inter had also put in a very tired-looking performance against Bologna over the weekend.
And it is not as though there is no reason for this. Inter have had an exhausting fixture list, culminating in their frenetic Champions League quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich.

After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that “in the first half we did very well.”
“We deserved a different result,” the coach continued.
“Unfortunately, we were lacking quality in the two penalty areas. Meanwhile, they scored with their first chance.”
“They were better than us,” Inzaghi admitted.
As far as whether the problem is mental or physical fatigue, the Inter coach said “it’s a bit of everything.”
“Clearly when conceded in the eighth minute of the second half, that directed the match.”
“We had to do better on their corner,” the Inter coach said. “And try to keep the match at 1-0.”
“Because we saw that in the second half we had several more chances,” Simone Inzaghi added.
And the Nerazzurri coach also insisted that in spite of the result yesterday, “we go forward with great confidence.”
